A reduced LAFC side was able to salvage a point against DC United from a match filled with controversy. Here are three things we learned.

There was a sense of disappointment from this match as LAFC were unable to record another victory at home. A red card in the first half inhibited the home side from getting all three points.

Diego Rossi had given LAFC the lead in the 39th minute when he fired home his first goal since April 13th.

The red card came in first-half stoppage time as Dejan Jakovic was sent off for a studs up challenge.

Two penalty calls in the second half would not amount to opportunities with VAR proving otherwise.

DC United finally got the game-tying goal in the 84th minute when Darren Mattocks headed home the equalizer for the away side.

A header rang off the post in the 93rd minute that would have surely given DC all three points at the very last. In the end, Tyler Miller and LAFC escaped with the one point.

Here are three things we learned from the match.

3. Slowing down?

LAFC have now taken two points from their last three matches in MLS. After a stellar start to the campaign, it appears they may be slowing down in their progress to the top of the table. A win on Saturday night would have been a big result for the club.

There has to be some serious worry about how the club will deal with the loss of leading scorer Carlos Vela in the coming weeks due to his World Cup participation with Mexico.

Next up, No. 2 and 1 of what we learned.
