MLS: 17 Major League Soccer players to expect at the 2018 World Cup
9. Andy Polo, Portland Timbers, Peru
Debuting for Peru in 2016, Polo now contributes regularly for his country. Polo has 15 caps and a goal, featuring in a majority of Peru’s qualifying games including both legs of the playoff against New Zealand.
Polo has started 5 games for Portland this season, and appeared in both matches of Peru’s two-game playoff against New Zealand. As one of the young attacking talents signed with TAM to MLS, Polo is hoping to a prime example of young players using MLS as a stepping stone. Until then, the Timbers faithful has seen reasons to be optimistic, as has coach Gio Savarese.
“Andy is a versatile, young player who will add another element to our attack, and we believe that he has further upside to his development. Andy has strong technical ability and is able to stretch opponents and run in behind defenses. He will provide us with another quality option as a winger, and we are very pleased to add him to the team this season.”
Moving on to No. 8.
