Players did not want to make a mistake on this historic occasion. With Seattle playing a cautious 5-4-1, Portland were asked to provide the attacking portion of the affair. The decision to start Turner in goal was questioned early on, but with Turner’s perfermances so far, New England fans now have a positive data point reinforcing their faith in Friedel’s plan.
