It was another entertaining weekend stocked full of MLS action with 11 games played including Toronto FC after their CCL exploits. Here are the Week 9 power rankings.

It was a historic weekend for MLS and it came in the form of the Banc of California Stadium where Los Angeles FC played their first home game of their existence.

While history was made in LA, the last remaining undefeated MLS team finally went down in the Big Apple. Atlanta United took some time to warm up, but eventually displayed their league-leading quality, New York City rebounded from last week’s loss, and Real Salt Lake again followed a big win with a dispiriting loss.

Montreal Impact. 22. team. 371. It was impressive how Montreal successful played the defend and counter against Atlanta. Not many teams will frustrate Atlanta into mistakes and take 1-0 leads into the locker room. Several though have suffered the wrath after Tata Martino changes to the Five Stripes’ tactics. The Impact played a great 70 minutes, but the game lasted a touch over 90. The Impact found a goal without relying on Piatti’s brilliance, but not much else. They can hang with top teams, but only for spurts. When they fall apart, they do so drastically. Montreal leads the league in goals allowed.. 2-6. Previous: 21st

374. Goals against the worst team in the league are still goals that build confidence. After almost a month long slump CJ Sapong and Borek Dockal finally found the net. Dockel’s 72nd minute game winner immediately answered DC United’s 70th minute equalizer. The Union are still showing heart and fight for beleaguered coach Jim Curtin, but some results against better sides will be needed to leave the Power Rankings’ basement. Ilsinho looked to be a new creative hub to help this team score more consistently.. 2-3-2. Previous: 23rd. Philadelphia Union. 21. team
