The New York Red Bulls were able to walk out of Los Angeles with a much-needed 3 points. The 3 points initially seem valuable but become even more clutch considering their upcoming schedule.

The New York Red Bulls blew a 2 goal lead at one point in this game. I would have been content with a  tie and at least taking one point. However, the full three points, and a win is the even better considering how tough things are about to get for New York’s Red club.

Once the Red Bulls head home from this weekends trip to LA, they must get ready for the Hudson River derby. They are home next week vs NYCFC but with the way the Citizens have been playing, that will be a tough game for RBNY.

However, the rough stretch does not even end there. After hosting NYCFC, the Red Bulls play two straight road matches.

Those matches consists of heading out West to play the Rapids. Then the surging, red-hot Atlanta United the weekend after that. Once they return to from the ATL, they have a stretch of in-conference games.

So, what does all that mean? Although there is no way of knowing for sure how the Red Bulls will do against NYCFC, Colorado, and even Atlanta, based on the way those teams are playing, it is safe to assume points are going to be tough to come by for the Red Bulls.

That is why figuring out a way to grind out a win in LA is more important and beneficial then it initially seems. Winning is always great and for the Red Bulls, even the standard. The timing of their wins, however, are just as important.

Getting the full three vs the Galaxy, in the beginning stretch of matches that are going to be difficult, is more ideal than usual.

The Eastern conference is tough, as the standings can testify to. The West has all sorts of opportunities even yet for teams to rise up and establish themselves as potential favorites, but in the East, Atlanta United and New York Red Bulls’ dear rivals New York City FC are setting a torrid pace early on that is going to be tough to catch if not acted on soon.
