Grading 2018 MLS Kits: The Best 3 and Worst 3
By Liam Pettit
No, I didn’t attend fashion school, but as a jersey connoisseur, I’ll walk you through my best and worst three kits that will be worn in MLS for 2018.
BEST 3 KITS
3. Seattle Sounders
Seattle Sounders have one of the best color-sets in all of MLS, so naturally, they donned some of the best kits in league history. Seattle scored once again with their 2018 home kit which is decorated with a camo-esque print on the body which is subtle, yet adds texture.
The Sounders also paid homage to their fans with “You Will Hear Us” on the back of the neck-line and a 10th-year-anniversary patch. I’m personally not a huge fan of v-neck collared jerseys, but nonetheless, the kit is a success.
2. Columbus Crew SC
The Crew’s jersey is easy on the eyes and the blacked out 3-stripes allows the yellow print on the jersey to pop. Sponsors are often not taken into account when judging jerseys, but the Acura sponsor looks spectacular. Button-up collars are often very hit-and-miss, but with the stealth look, it makes the jersey look sophisticated.
1. Atlanta United FC
Atlanta United get the top spot on this list. Now it may not be the most exciting jersey from a visual standpoint, but the idea to use the peach color as a salute to the state of Georgia must be applauded. The kit release video included an appearance by 2 Chainz, so how could it not get the top spot?
Honorable Mentions:
- Houston Dynamo
- Minnesota United FC
- San Jose Earthquakes
