#3 CenturyLink Field (Seattle Sounders)

Capacity – 39,419 expandable to 69,000

I have a tough time swallowing a soccer team playing at a football stadium but the Seattle Sounders help me do so with ease. It bothers me to see such a big stadium with so many empty seats (Gillette Stadium) but that’s not a problem with the 2016 MLS Cup winners.

Having the availability to expand your crowd up to nearly 70,000 is a great option to have, and one the Sounders use regularly. Although the capacity for MLS games is labeled as 39,419, the Sounders averaged an attendance of 43,666 for the 2017 campaign. Having this extra room allows the Sounders to keep a stadium percent capacity of 110.8%, the second highest in the league.

The atmosphere at CenturyLink Field is among the standouts in Major League Soccer thanks to the Sounders averaging the second highest attendance in the league, and having one of the best supporters cultures in North America. From the top deck, depending on which side you are sitting on, fans can either see downtown or part of the Olympic national park.
