Americans Abroad Update: FA Cup Appearances, Goals, and More

Although the United States Men’s National Team was in action on Sunday, essentially all of the U.S. players abroad were in action with their respective clubs.

We begin this week’s Americans Abroad update with Kenny Saief who has been off to a great start with RSC Anderlecht in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.

Mid-week Saief got on the scoresheet in a 2-2 draw against Waasland-Beveren. Unfortunately, he missed a penalty late in the match that would have likely given Anderlecht all three points.

In Anderlecht’s weekend match, Saief would record an assist in a 3-2 win over Standard de Liège.

Another American player to record a goal this week was Alfredo Morales. The 27-year-old forward scored for Ingolstadt in a Bundesliga 2 match.

Timmy Chandler found himself involved in the scoring for Eintracht Frankfurt for the second consecutive week. This time he turned provider recording an assist on a Kevin-Prince Boateng goal.

FA Cup Action

In the FA Cup, Tim Ream played all 90 minutes as Fulham advance to the next round after a 3-1 victory over Barnsley. Elsewhere, Cameron Carter-Vickers also played all 90 minutes but Ipswich Town’s FA Cup ended with a 1-0 loss to Wolverhampton.

After scoring against Arsenal, Eric Lichaj and Nottingham Forest were met with defeat against Hull City losing 2-1.

Christian Pulisic played 66 minutes for Borussia Dortmund in their come from behind 2-2 draw. Bobby Wood saw 77 minutes of playing time for Hamburg in their 1-1 draw.

Matt Miazga made his usual appearance on the backline for Vitesse in the Dutch Eredivisie. He went the distance in Vitesse’s 2-1 victory.

In Liga MX, Landon Donovan has yet to make his debut for Club Leon. William Yarborough took a tough 4-0 loss in goal against Nexaca. Jorge Villafana played all 90 minutes of Santos Laguna’s 1-1 draw.
