New York Red Bulls: Off-Season Signings and Transfer Rumors Part 2
By Liam Pettit
Sacha Kljestan traded to Orlando City SC, Alejandro Gamarra “Kaku” set to be unveiled, some more HG’s signed and the 2018 Red Bulls XI is coming together.
Where is Kaku?
“Kaku”, or Alejandro Romero Gamarra, is still not officially a Red Bull. The situation is due to Kaku’s former agent, Marcelo Simonian, who intervened in the final hour of the deal. Turns out weeks before signing with the Red Bulls, Kaku cut ties with his former agent which infuriated Simonian. Simonian still feels entitled to a percentage of the transfer, despite no longer being Kaku’s agent.
It was MLS and the Red Bulls who put a temporary halt on the deal for fear of legal ramifications. But over time the club has come to the conclusion that Simonian does not have a case to take to court and win. Reportedly that Kaku is not apart of Huracan’s second phase of preseason camp. Just yesterday, Kaku was seen at Huracan’s training facility saying his final good-byes. Reports claim Kaku will be unveiled later this week or early next week.
