Los Angeles FC’s inaugural roster will gain momentum from Costa Rica, based on a serious scouting visit by Head Coach Bob Bradley.

Los Angeles FC Head Coach Bob Bradley joined former D.C. United M Kurt Morsink. He represents several Costa Ricans playing in MLS. The two attended a game matching Saprissa against Alajuelense.

MLSSoccer.com contributor Sam Stejskal relayed the report of Bradley’s Costa Rica visit. He noted how extensively LAFC works that area of the globe.

"Stejskal: According to a LAFC spokesperson, Bradley, LAFC GM John Thorrington and other members of the club’s technical staff have been scouting extensively in recent weeks, taking several international trips to Central and South America and Europe."

Alicia Rodriguez of AngelsOnParade.com follows the scouting developments closely.

"Rodriguez: Morsink also dropped the names of two players he represents who could presumably be on the move to MLS in the winter, Saprissa D Julio Cascante and Saprissa M Ulises Segura. Both players are 24 and have been capped by Costa Rica. So, it’s obviously little surprise to see LAFC personnel scouting at this time of year, considering the winter transfer window will be the busiest one the expansion team ever participates in. We’ll see if this particular trip leads to any signings out of Costa Rica. Stay tuned."

Los Angeles FC balances short- and long-terms

While Los Angeles FC and the other MLS clubs heavily scout to fill their rosters, they still remain dedicated to developing talent at home.

LAFC Executive Vice President John Thorrington affirmed that recently in the Los Angeles Times.

He spoke of their Youth Academy, already started, working with children to support and develop their soccer skills.

"Thorrington: They will be wearing our colors and representing our brand. The team that we want to build is one that is very fast-paced, plays on the front foot, is the aggressor in all games."

That’s for the long-term. Today’s scouting focuses on getting players ready for the field in a matter of months.

For that result, Los Angeles FC named Mexican international Carlos Vela their Designated Player.
