MLS has had the reputation of signing players that are well beyond their peak of their careers. Such players play a pivotal role in the MLS since they help fill up stadiums around the nation.

During the MLS offseason, a couple of players from Europe’s most prestigious leagues are about to culminate their contracts with their respective clubs. Here is a list of such players that MLS teams will try to sign.

Fernandinho

Brazilian center midfielder, Fernandinho, known for his loyalty to the clubs he plays for, will become a free agent at the end of the season. The current Manchester City midfielder will most likely seek more opportunities away from England. Even though the 32-year-old has been solid for Manchester City, already playing 8 games, City can’t afford to keep starting a 32-year-old week in and week out. If he becomes a free agent, it’s evident that many European teams will try to land the Brazilian, but ultimately a juicy contract from an MLS side could get the job done.

Hatem Ben Arfa

Ever since his transfer to PSG, Ben Arfa hasn’t been the same. The 30-year-old is yet to have an appearance for the Paris side. Known for being a skiller, he will be hugely welcomed in MLS such as fellow Frenchman Romain Alessandrini. It shouldn’t be shocking to see him in America next season.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

The Swedish legend is currently injured and is on contract with Manchester United until the end of the year. Due to the performances put up by Romelu Lukaku and youngster Marcus Rashford, it will be tough to see the veteran earn some playing time before this season is over. Zlatan is known as a globetrotter so clearly, a move to MLS may be in his game plan.

He also led his nation to the World Cup in 2014 and kept them alive all the way to the quarterfinals. Ruiz is well-known in the CONCACAF region and can surely jump to MLS once he feels like he is ready.
