Eastern Conference: Louisville City sitting on magic number

Louisville City FC continue to be the hottest team in the Eastern Conference. Yet, despite pulling in their 50th point of the season last week with a win over Pittsburgh, the title is still not done and dusted in the east. However, LC FC did wrap up their spot in the playoffs earning a come-from-behind draw, 2-2, Friday night at home to Bethlehem Steel.

Right now it appears that 65 points plus will be needed to take the overall title in either conference. It also looks like the playoff cut line on both tables will be between 40 and 45. In the east, that is good news for New York Red Bulls II. On the same table, it is the worst kind of news for Charleston Battery. NYRB II have won 4 of their last 6 and haven’t tasted defeat since a July 29 loss to LC FC. Battery has only 1 win in their last 9 matches. That streak began on July 8 when Charleston battled LC FC to a 1-1 draw. It continued through gunners’ loss away to Louisville 2 weeks ago. Red Bulls II and Tamp Bay Rowdies can both jump into the top four with respective wins combined with another Battery loss.

Red Bulls II just have to get past…
