Division 2 Power Ranking: Heading into the NASL Fall Season Edition
4- Louisville City FC. Index rating: 45.920. Rank change: 0.
- 10-5-4, 37/17, eight shutouts, one come from behind win, 21 road points, seven dropped home points.
A lot of the same for Louisville. Impressive road results against Charleston and Saint Louis and a home win against Ottawa keep them near the top, but they dropped a home match against rivals FC Cincinnati. They’ve held strong at the top of our rankings but will have to keep holding strong with the clubs moving up behind them and the top three running away from them.
3- Swope Park Rangers. Index rating: 46.309. Rank change: +8.
- 12-2-4, 30/15, eight shutouts, two come from behind wins, 18 road points, three dropped home points.
The 2016 Western Conference Champions surged up the rankings in July. They have won five straight since our last rankings, four of them on the road, and did not give up a goal in any of the matches. Yes, five straight shutouts, four of them away from home. Their one home match was a 4-0 drubbing of RGVFC.
2- Real Monarchs SLC. Index rating: 56.813. Rank change: -1.
- 14-2-2, 41/19, five shutouts, one from behind win, 20 road points, no dropped home points.
The Monarchs are still the only perfect club at home, but Miami’s explosion to round out the NASL season along with the Monarchs loss against Tulsa was enough to knock SLC off of their perch for the first time this season. They are currently running away with the USL Western Conference, so we’ll see if anyone is able to slow them down.
1-Miami FC . Index rating: 57.121. Rank change: +1.
- 15-3-2, 44/16, eight shutouts, three come from behind win, 22 road points, five dropped home points.
Miami FC finally takes their place at the top of our rankings, despite dropping a result against North Carolina FC. The 10-1 goal difference against SF Deltas, along with the road victory, was just enough to push them ahead of the Monarchs. They have a chance Wednesday to establish themselves as top dogs in the US Open Cup against FC Cincinnati, and the club is also primed to keep their NASL dominance alive through the Fall Season.
