Division 2 Power Ranking: Heading into the NASL Fall Season Edition
9- Sacramento Republic FC. Index rating: 22.487. Rank change: -3.
- 11-4-7, 37/24, six shutouts, three come from behind wins, 11 road points, seven dropped home points.
Just a slight dip for Republic FC, mostly due to their 1-1 draw at home against San Antonio combined with some of the other results makes them drop a bit in our ranks. But hey, they broke ground on their new stadium, so that’s nice.
8- Orange County SC. Index rating: 23.130. Rank change: -1.
- 8-4-5, 31/26, four shutouts, no come from behind wins, 17 road points, seven dropped home points.
Orange County still gets a nice bump thanks to their lack of home games. So far they’ve only played six, but they’ve won three of them. The 4-0 win against RGVFC Toros in their last home match pulled them up a bit as well.
7- Charlotte Independence. Index rating: 27.235. Rank change: +2.
- 10-6-4, 37/27, three shutouts, three come from behind wins, 20 road points, nine dropped home points.
Charlotte had a six game unbeaten streak between our two rankings. Three of those wins came on the road, along with a road draw in the match that broke their streak. They haven’t lost since June 7, when they fell on the road 1-0 against Louisville, who they have just passed for second place in the USL Eastern Conference standings.
6- Charleston Battery. Index rating: 29.025. Rank change: -1.
- 12-6-5, 44/28, eight shutouts, one come from behind win, 18 road points, nine dropped home points.
Road trips and the Gold Cup dropped the Battery since last time around. Romario Williams was sorely missed as Charleston only two goals in their last three games, all of which were on the road, two of them ending in losses. He is back now as they will head back home to try to turn things around.
5- San Antonio FC. Index rating: 30.669. Rank change: -2.
- 11-8-1. 30/11, 11 shutouts, no come from behind wins, 21 road points, ten dropped home points.
San Antonio have only lost one match this season, coming at the hands of Colorado Springs on the road, but SAFC have drawn in their three matches since then, including a heart breaker where they gave up a late goal to the visiting Real Monarchs in the top of Western Conference battle.
