Week 11 Roundup:

A recurring theme here at MLS Multiplex is that you really shouldn’t bet on MLS because, trust me, you won’t be predicting most of these scores! Most of the fantasy point killers aren’t easy to predict either but hey we’ll give it a shot! Thankfully MLS fans were blessed with a start and goal from good ole’ Tommy McNamara.

Two Takeaways from this weekend were…

  1. Toyota Park in Chicago is packed again?? Saturday night’s action saw a completely packed stadium in Chicago, something that hasn’t been seen in a while. Paunovic’s new Fire, wins, and Schweinsteiger probably have something to do with that! A 4-1 win over reigning MLS Champs, Seattle Sounders, might just keep the people coming back. Nemanja Nikolic’s brace and 20 fantasy points led the game as well.
  2. The return of the bottom dwellers: Part 2! For the second week in a row Philadelphia came out on top. LA, and Colorado picked up huge wins in MLS action for week 11. Colorado blew San Jose out the water with Gashi’s first strike of the season in a game that saw Gashi finish with 14 points on the night. Meanwhile LA and Philadelphia each scored 3 and 4 goals on their opponents in games which saw Alessandrini and Medunjanin take the MLS Fantasy points spoils.

MLS Week 12 Must Have Players:

1) Haris Medunjanin

Bosnian International, Haris Medunjanin, has come into MLS and made his presence known. Although Philadelphia have had a rocky season so far, Medunjanin has managed to settle down in the center midfield role and contribute 67 points from a more defensive position. Just this past week Philadelphia rocked DC with four goals and Medunjanin racked up 19 points in the process behind a goal and two assists.

2) Alex

The small Brazilian one named playmaker, Alex, has made his one name known in MLS this season and the people are taking notice. Featured in MLS TOTW two weeks in a row now is saying something. Alex was Houston’s MVP last year and shows no sign of slowing down with six assists in league play this season and is sitting in second place in MLS assists respectively. Although the Dynamo face two away games this week I imagine Alex will start both matches and pick himself up some good points.

3) Ike Opara

Sporting Kansas City faces a double game week in which American stalwart, Ike Opara, can pick up huge points at home vs a struggling Seattle side. Opara is a beast in the air and I like the chances of an Opara goal off a corner kick this week. Opara and Besler have held down SKC’s defense to let in very few goals this season and I expect this to continue vs Seattle and Vancouver in a double game week.
