Week 10 Roundup:

To put it bluntly week 10 involved several blowouts and several shutouts…

But as is said in America three things are certain in life. Death, Taxes, and a David Villa goal!

Two Takeaways from this weekend were…

  1. Giants Fall: There was quite a few surprises this weekend high-flying teams took big losses. Orlando fell 4-0 to Houston, Portland took a 3-0 L to San Jose, and SKC lost 2-0 at Minnesota. If anything this teaches MLS Fantasy goers not to always load up on players from hot teams. Anything can happen.. especially when Toronto rests half their team on a double game week.
  2. Bottom Dwellers Rising: Some of the colder teams to start the MLS season took some valuable points back this weekend with Philadelphia recording their first win of the season and Minnesota and Montreal taking wins away as well. LA picked up some valuable points behind a second half comeback led by Gio Dos Santos.

MLS Week 11 Must Have Players:

1) Romell Quioto

As lethal as this year’s Houston Dynamo attack with all their new shiny pieces, Romell Quioto has to be the main difference maker. The Honduran forward was out for a couple of games due to an injury he picked up in the last World Cup Qualifiers but last week he came back and started against Orlando and made an instant impact. The 25-year-old has found his form with Houston whether that is with an attacking combo of Torres, Elis, or Manotas. Pick Quioto up for another big points showing as the Dynamo play at home.

2) Ignacio Piatti

Montreal is on the come up my people and Piatti is a silent killer waiting to take 2017 by storm. Montreal picked Swiss International and Serie A veteran Blerim Dzemaili this week, exactly the guy Piatti and Montreal need to lead them into a fight up the table in the East. Piatti is looking at a lower point total than usual with 40 points in 7 games for him thus far. Look for a weak Columbus side travel away to Montreal on a DGW and have Piatti do his magic.

3) Florian Jungwirth

I don’t usually pick away players in my MLS Fantasy player picks for the week but Jungwirth has been a revelation in MLS this season. His arrival from Darmstadt in Germany was a quiet one but has slowly cemented himself as one of the best defenders in the league. Jungwirth has totaled 83 points this 2017 MLS Fantasy season and dominated the Quakes backline. The key to this year’s MLS Fantasy is defenders and Florian will more than do the trick.
