Team Grade:

Before we issue the match grade, let’s chat about what led us to our final conclusion.

Glory to Columbus:

Let’s do things a bit differently this time, shall we? The team played great, the 2-0 shutout result is a testament to that. We’re not going to talk about the match though, we’re going to talk about the movement in Columbus.

The 2017 Columbus Crew SC are a force to be reckoned with. From the fresh faces like Zack Steffen, Alex Crognale, Jonathan Mensah, or Artur adding a much needed vigor to the club, to the veteran attacking trio of Meram, Pipa, and Kamara getting it done on the front end of the pitch, Columbus Crew SC are early favorites for the playoffs in 2017.

More importantly, however, it would appear the toxicity from 2016 (looking at you, Kei) is a distant memory. From Pipa’s loving kiss to the Crew SC badge, to Berhalter’s explosion at seeing his player wronged, the Black & Gold pride is on full display.

The fans at Mapfre are loud and proud for every second of the match, and it is getting really exciting to be a fan of the Columbus Crew SC again.
