Orlando City striker, Cyle Larin, is off to a hot start in 2017 and has been an instrumental part of the club’s early success.

On Sunday, Cyle Larin was at the forefront of the Lions 2-1 win over New York City FC. The Canadian scored two goals and continued his impressive goal scoring streak to start this year. The 22-year-old has scored six goals in six appearances, which has put him in second place in the Major League Soccer Golden Boot race.

Larin has performed exceptionally well against NYCFC in his young career, scoring nine goals in seven matches against the club from the Big Apple. Even with NYCFC having made the playoffs last year, Orlando continues to dominate this expansion connection rivalry.

Larin Wins Matches

Six of the Lions eight goals have come from Larin this season, and in each match the striker has scored in the club has gone on to win.

As a result of his performances in the past few seasons, Larin has been receiving attention from potential European suitors, which makes sense as he is the best young striker in MLS.

This season appears to be a career one for the Canadian, he is on track to set a career best in goals scored in a single season. He’s not only scoring goals, but scoring them when City need them the most. In the last two matches, Larin has scored the match-winning goal.

It’s no surprise Larin has been performing this well. After his stunning debut season where he set the all-time rookie scoring record, he slowed down a tad in his sophomore season, but it was not a real cause for concern, only in comparison to a breakout rookie year. He now appears to be back on track to star status.

With the season only six matches in, we can expect to see City receiving lots of goals from Larin as the season progresses. He is an invaluable asset to the Florida club and could carry them very far in the playoffs at the end of the season. But then where will he be after this contract ends in December?
