The Seattle Sounders leave Avaya Stadium with a 1-1 draw against San Jose after conceding late in the match.

After the majority of the chances fell to the San Jose Earthquakes, the Seattle Sounders thought they grabbed a winner in the 84th-minute with a wonderful Nicolas Lodeiro volley. The Sounders defense held strong for five more minutes until Wondolowski was left unmarked six yards from goal for an easy tap in. Here are three takeaways for Sounders fans from their third draw of the year:

Wondo Does it Again…

For some reason Chris Wondolowski has Seattle’s number. Prior to this game, Wondo scored 10 goals in 18 matches against Seattle and thanks to last night, he now as 11 in 19. Seattle’s defense did well for the majority of the match keeping Wondo marked and for the most part out of the game. But in the 90th-minute, Gustav Svensson lost the American striker on a Marco Ureña cross for an easy tap in.

Torres Injury

The first time centerback Roman Torres stepped foot into Avaya Stadium, the Panamanian international tore his ACL, keeping him out for about a year. Now, back at Avaya Stadium, he once again had to be taken out for injury roughly 15 minutes in, this time it seems to be a hamstring problem.

At first glace this injury looks to be a bigger problem than it actually is. Though the extent of the injury isn’t known, Torres should be expected to at least miss Friday night’s match against Vancouver. Even if Torres is Seattle’s best option next to Chad Marshall, the Sounders have two more than capable back ups in Gustav Svensson and Tony Alfaro, both of whom played great against Atlanta last weekend. Either of those two (though it will likely be Svensson) will do fine against a Vancouver side that has only scored six goals so far this season and held scoreless in three out of their five league matches.

Lodeiro Makes Things Happen

Lodeiro hasn’t quite had the start to this season that Sounders fans were hoping for. He isn’t as dominate as he once was as teams are starting to figure out how defend against him. The Uruguayan’s creativity still breaks through, though. He has yet to miss a single minute of the 2017 season and in that time he has scored two goals and picked up one assist, including this incredible golazo from last night:

It is important to realize how much work Lodeiro does defensively as well. During Saturday’ match, Lodeiro completed two tackles, the same amount as Chad Marshall and more than everyone else on the field with the exception to Jones, Roldan and Alonso. Though that kind of work doesn’t show up on the scoreboard, Lodeiro makes his presence known, even if offensively teams are finding ways to stop him.
