It was a big weekend for Minnesota and Columbus. However, MLS goalkeepers had a weekend to forget.
It was a wild weekend of results in MLS. That means it was also a wild weekend in MLS Fantasy. There were plenty of goals this weekend, especially from midfielders. Let’s take a look at how the team of the week played out.

And with that a wild Round 5 is in the books! pic.twitter.com/7Rhek7S2Az
Look at Minnesota United go! They have two players on the team after their historic first win. Columbus as had a huge weekend with three players on the team of the week. And not surprisingly Erick Torres is the leading point scorer after his hat trick.
Three Good and Bad Picks From Week 5
Good: Stefan Frei
Seattle’s keeper was a part of shutting down an Atlanta United attack for the first time all season. His nine points tied for the most among keepers this week.
Bad: Just About Every Other Keeper
A lot of fans had Nick Rimando this week. While getting attacking players against Minnesota has paid off, they have proven capable of scoring goals, they also got a big helper from Rimando.
Luis Robles and Clement Diop were also popular picks to give up four goals. It was an ugly weekend for goalkeeping in MLS this weekend.
Good: Bastian Schweinsteiger
With a high price and no certainty how long he would play, a lot of people were cautious about picking him up. He rewarded those who took the risk on him though. He got a goal and went the full 90 in his debut.
Bad: Miguel Almiron
It’s not Almiron’s fault, he was just coming back from playing two intense World Cup Qualifiers in South America. It makes sense that he needed some rest after those matches. Despite that, he was still on a lot of teams this week and those who left him in their lineup only got a single point from him.
Good: Columbus’ Back Line
You couldn’t go wrong with any of Columbus’ defenders this weekend. the four starters combined for 35 points and all of them picked up at least 7. Rookie Alex Crognale is continuing a strong start to the year with a 10 point performance.
Bad: LA Galaxy’s Back Line
After giving up four goals to Vancouver, their four starters combined for eight points. Jelle Van Damme had three as he continues his struggles in the first month of the season.
Three Players to Pick in Week 6
Sebastian Giovinco
The Atomic Ant has had a really tough start to the year, but he’s going to get an up and down match against Atlanta United this week. Despite his struggles, he has looked closer and closer to scoring. Surely he has to score soon, right?
Justin Meram
Meran has been one of the strongest performers this year. He leads Columbus in points, and with the deal to bring in Kekuta Manneh, he could get more touches centrally. That would mean more assists if he handles it well.
Maximiliano Urutti
Sure Dallas has a midweek Champions League game, but Urutti is in great form and will get his shot against the Minnesota backline. While Minnesota is coming off a win, that backline gave up two goals and still looks vulnerable.
