Week 4 Round Up & Week 5 Tips:

Week four was the opposite of what was expected honestly. My steadfast prediction that Minnesota would finally breakout and Ramirez would bag a couple was pretty wrong.

There were only six teams playing last weekend for a total of three games. New England took it to Minnesota in a 5-2 win (please no one pick up MNUFC defense), and Columbus toppled league leaders Portland Timbers in a dramatic 3-2 finish which saw rookie Niko Hansen score the game winner.

Lastly, RBNY and RSL played to a boring 0-0 match. The stars of week four included RBNY defender Shane Long (a cheap must get for any backline), and a revived duo of Fagundez and Agudelo from New England.

More from MLS News

Week four might have not been the points fest you wish it was, but week five is here now and time to take full advantage of it! All MLS teams are back in action after a week of World Cup Qualifiers (except for FC Dallas and Colorado) and yes some players did sustain WCQ injuries. If you have Josef Martinez, Romell Quioto, Laurent Ciman, or Sebastian Lletget you are going to want to drop them as they will all be out for a considerable amount of time after sustaining injuries in WCQ.

Lastly, take advantage of MLS Fantasy unlimited transfers by filtering out most of the players from week four, as there is much better selection this week. Stay true to my tip about picking players that are at home. as that’s often when the most points are racked up!

MLS Week 5 Must Have Players:

1) Fanendo Adi

Fanendo Adi had quite the 2016 season scoring 16 goals and finally being called up to represent the Nigerian National Team. He has started off the 2017 season in the same inspired form scoring four goals in the first four matches of the season. Adi seems more inspired than ever especially now that he has service from the likes of Blanco, Nagbe, and Valeri. Mark my words the man won’t stop scoring!

This weekend Portland faces off against a recently inspired New England side that are coming off a 5-2 win that surely boosted moral. That shouldn’t stop Adi from continuing on his tear as Portland will be at home with the Timbers Army and Fanendo Adi will continue his MLS rampage against what still seems like a very suspect Revs backline.

2) Drew Moor

Drew Moor led Toronto FC’s backline to a MLS Cup final last year and held down Colorado’s defense before it was even cool… I mean before they were even good! Moor and Toronto face off against an upswinging Sporting KC side, but thankfully they are home in good ‘ole Toronto to fend off Peter Vermes men.

Moor racked up 11 and 10 points in both game weeks one and two, so look for him to have the same kind of performance in Toronto’s first home match of the season. Toronto’s five man backline won’t let you down with Moor holding down the fort.

3) Rodney Wallace

Rodney Wallace recently made his comeback in MLS after winning MLS Cup with Portland in 2015, and going abroad to Brazil for a year. The Costa Rican winger is in fine form scoring in his last two games for NYCFC and totaling 11 points in each of the last two matches.

Wallace and company are at home for the third week in a row against San Jose, so expect the pace and finishing of Wallace to continue wreaking havoc for NYCFC with him and Jack Harrison on the wings.
