In this MLS Multiplex exclusive series, we analyze the Columbus Crew SC on a weekly basis and assign them a letter grade each week. How did the Crew do in week four?

Previous Report Cards:

  • Week 1 – Chicago Fire
  • Week 2 – Houston Dynamo
  • Week 3 – DC United

Columbus Crew SC made a statement in week four with an upset win over the undefeated Portland Timbers. The shut-out against DC United was slightly tainted by the fact that DC United have still yet to score a goal this season, but the Black & Gold knocking off the club that’s made the most noise in the early season is a huge moral boost for the fans in Ohio.

The fact that the Portland Timbers were also the club that beat Columbus at home for the MLS Cup just two short years ago? Well, that was just an added bonus. Another bonus for Columbus? The Crew SC are leaving week four on top of the Eastern Conference for the first time in a long time.
