2. The Numbers Speak for Themselves (Holy Statistics Batman!)

Saturday’s game was an incredible statistics day for Atlanta. Looking at the final numbers, it is clear that although Chicago was playing a man down for most of the match, they still did not play up to the hype surrounding them after a strong first two weeks.

The game stats from this match read like that of a FIFA 17 match played on Amateur difficulty. Atlanta had six shots on target that resulted in four goals. The team had 935 total passes (including 101 from Yamil Asad, 113 from Greg Garza, 118 from Carlos Carmona, 120 from Michael Parkhurst, and 137 from Leandro Gonzalez Pirez) compared to only 192 from Chicago. But perhaps the most impressive number is Atlanta’s 83% possession to Chicago’s 17%.
