FC Dallas: 3 Key Takeaways from the NE Revolution match

It was a tale of two-halves as FC Dallas scored twice in the second half to defeat the New England Revolution in front of the home crowd.

The Maxi Urruti show was on full display on Saturday night as the Argentinian forward scored a brace in the second half to lift FC Dallas to victory.

How it happened

An early spot kick had given the Revolution a 1-0 advantage at halftime. They looked dangerous in the opening 20 minutes as Dallas struggled to find their rhythm early on.

The home side would not find the equaliser until the 71st minute, Michael Barrios’s initial shot was saved by Cody Cropper, but the rebound fell to Urruti who tucked it home.

In the 77th minute, Urruti would get his second goal of the match, powering a shot over the head of Cropper and into the roof of the net.

Dallas would hang on in the remaining minutes of the match to win their second match of the week.

FC Dallas has seen a few players step up and deliver top class soccer over the past few weeks. Urruti has been one of those players, the Argentine has scored four goals in his last three appearances for the club and is looking like a man destined to have a career season in the MLS.

For the second time his week, Dallas found themselves down early in the match. A penalty was called after Cristian Colman held Antonio Mlinar Delamea in the box on a corner kick. After the goal, it appeared the tired legs might catch-up with Dallas.

However, Urruti stepped up to lead a spirited comeback. With a weekend off, the slow starts should be a key point of emphasis for a busy month of April.

#3 Defense does its job

Although the opening goal was a poor way to concede, the defense did well to shut down the Revolution attack, especially in the second half. They were limited to four shot, three of which were on goal.

Kei Kamara was covered well for pretty much the entire night, with only one moment of magic when he danced around a handful of Dallas defenders. Juan Agudelo was frustrated for most of the match and didn’t have many opportunities to score.
