There was quite a few shake ups in week 2, but now it’s time to move forward into the best picks for MLS Fantasy week 3, as the likes of Gody and co have moved ahead in the pack!

Week 2 Round Up & Tips:

There were disappointments and there were upsets, but nonetheless we had players who came through for us and others that didn’t! Don’t know about y’all but Giovinco, Mullins, and a cancelled New England-Orlando game all contributed to a poor week for me. If you haven’t yet, drop Giovinco ASAP as he has picked up an injury that will probably keep him out for the next couple of weeks.

In other news, DO NOT pick up Minnesota United’s defense because well… letting in 11 goals in two matches won’t fare well for any starting XI in MLS Fantasy! Also keep up with the rotation of players for FC Dallas and Vancouver as they continue their journeys through CONCACAF Champions League. Both Dallas and Vancouver have rotated sure fire starters like Acosta, Zimmerman, and Davies which cost me quite a few points last week.

3 Sure-Fire Fantasy Starters:

1) Josef Martinez

If you watched week two and play MLS Fantasy AND haven’t picked up Josef Martinez… WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?

Well probably one of three things, that Minnesota’s defense sucks (yes, it does, sorry), and it wasn’t a one off. Two, that there is no way he can keep it up against a revamped Chicago side and three, maybe you just don’t like racking up points in MLS Fantasy!

Josef Martinez was bottled down by RBNY in the first game, but still had instant chemistry with Almiron. Then in week two the two stars showed what that chemistry can do against a weak defense. Now, as Tata Martino said in AUFC press conference, the team is going to keep getting better as they get to know each other’s movements and tendencies. So MLS Fantasy peeps, do yourself a favor and pick up good ole’ Josef Martinez, Venezuelan International, and week 2 MLS player of the week!

2) Anibal Godoy

Say hello to the best player in the first two weeks of MLS, Panamanian International and Center Midfielder, Anibal Godoy. At a low price of $7.2 million he needs to be on your team! Godoy has racked up 26 fantasy points in two weeks, as well as adding two amazing goals!! Fantasy Points+Chip & Rocket Goals= MLS Fantasy G.O.A.T. Whether Anibal Godoy will continue to provide great goals like that you can expect him to deliver assists to his buddy Wondolowski up top, or make some crunching tackles in his box to box role to gain you more points!

3) Tim Howard

It’s no secret Tim Howard is getting older, as he recently celebrated his 38th birthday. Just like fine wine it seems Timmy is only getting better with age. He came back in week two to pick up five points, but also to make some amazing saves in a loss to RBNY. On Wednesday Howard was called up to the upcoming USMNT WCQ roster where he will probably be starting, so this is definitely a man with confidence and something to prove in keeping his starting spot.

Howard leads the sturdiest defense in the league in front of him with the likes of Burch, Sjoberg (Injured), Watts, and Miller. Don’t know about all you guys, but I know Tim Howard will get the start on my fantasy team this weekend and just maybe the captain’s armband against a weak Minnesota attack.
