Team Profile: England
England opened the SheBelieves cup by nearly getting their first win over France since 1974. The Lionesses had a halftime lead thanks to this strike from Jordan Nobbs.
England tried to hang on throughout the second half but Marie-Laure Delie equalized with ten minutes to go, then a stoppage time header from Wendie Renard left England with zero points after a spirited performance. England also announced after the match that Alex Scott will be unavailable for the rest of the tournament, giving them another blow before facing the top two ranked teams in the world. Scott subbed in for Rachel Daly of the Houston Dash as the Lionesses tried to protect their 1-0 lead.
Team Profile: United States
The 3-5-2 Jill Ellis rolled out held firm and the USWNT were able to keep Germany from finding the back of the net. Alyssa Naeher got the starting nod over Ashlyn Harris and performed well. Lynn Williams got the only goal of the match after Christen Press did absolutely everything one could without actually scoring.
It will be interesting to see if Ellis makes any changes in the Starting XI against England. Recently there has been a lot of debate of who the best options at forward are. Against Germany Press and Williams got the start with Crystal Dunn playing out wide. Alex Morgan got a little more than 10 minutes when she was subbed on for Williams.

If the USWNT pick up a win and France and Germany draw they will clinch the cup before the final game against Les Bleues. Now this cup isn’t the most prestigious, and the overall goal is to improve the strength of the new formation Ellis seems to be sold on.
