This match will feature two clubs that finished high-up in the 2016 Western Conference standings. FC Dallas won the regular season conference title, as well as the Supports Shield. More from FC Dallas

Saturday will most likely give us the first look at the new LA Galaxy midfield. The California club brought in three notable players in the midfield, as Joao Pedro, Jermaine Jones and Romain Alessandrini were signed in January.

Offensively, the Galaxy will have Giovani dos Santos up front, and the Mexican midfielder is sure to provide plenty of highlights on Saturday.

This will be the first MLS test for new Galaxy manager Curt Onalfo, he will have big shoes to fill after Bruce Arena’s long run as manger came to an end after he accepted the United States Men’s National Team job.

It’s been a solid off-season for FC Dallas, they recently advanced to the CONCACAF Champions League semifinals after defeating Arabe Unido on a 5-2 aggregate. Kellyn Acosta, Cristian Colman and Michael Barrios all had impressive performances for their club. Additionally, goalkeeper Chris Seitz has been performing well in net.

Last season the two sides met a total of three times, with two match-ups occurring in the MLS and one in the U.S Open Cup. FC Dallas were victorious in the Open Cup match in August, as they would eventually go on to win the competition. They met twice in the final three weeks of the MLS season, the first encounter ended in a 1-0 win for FC Dallas and the last meeting finished on level terms.
