3. Charleston Battery can hang with the best

The host club Charleston Battery may not be in the MLS, but they certainly aren’t a club to be taken lightly. In the first round of the tournament, Charleston Battery were able to pull a 1-1 draw from the MLS Cup Champions.

In the second round, the Battery took the Crew to the limit with another 1-1 draw. It was not until round 3 that Charleston suffered their first loss against a hot Atlanta United. Charleston managed to score a goal against their MLS counterparts in each match of the tournament, and move on to the USL Season with some solid momentum.
