7. Fanendo Adi (Portland Timbers) – 16 goals
The Portland Timbers forward is slowly establishing himself as one of the premier strikers in the MLS after scoring 16 goals for a second straight season at a rate of 0.54 goals per game. A nuisance in the box due to his physical stature and nimble footwork, Fanendo Adi notched two assists and scored the game-winner on five occasions this season.
However, his performances in front of goal wasn’t enough to stop his club from missing the MLS Cup Playoffs courtesy of a seventh-place finish in the Western Conference, a disappointing 2016 after winning the Cup the year before.
- Started 30 of 33 games played.
- Scored 2/4 penalty kick attempts. Misses came in a 4-1 away loss to Orlando City SC and a 1-0 home win against the Colorado Rapids.
- 13 goals scored at home, 3 away.
- Took 88 shots with 37 on goal.
- Finished seventh in the 2015 top 10 goal scorers list (16 goals in 33 games).
