1. Bradley Wright-Phillips (New York Red Bulls) – 24 goals

Bradley Wright-Phillips returned to his goal-scoring exploits in 2016 after a somewhat disappointing 2015 campaign. The Englishman belted in 24 goals at an average of 0.78 goals per game – topping the top goal scorers charts in the process and winning his second MLS Golden Boot award (his last one was in 2014).
A pacy striker who runs in behind defenses and plays well off the flanks, the 31-year-old is one of the core members of a strong New York Red Bulls side which finished first in the Eastern Conference and 3rd overall. He scored the game-winner on seven occasions, which is also the highest of any player in the league.
- Started 32 of the 34 games played.
- Scored 0/1 from the penalty spot. The miss came in a 1-0 home loss against Vancouver Whitecaps.
- 14 goals scored at home, 10 away.
- Took 103 shots with 56 of them on goal.
- Finished fifth in the 2015 top 10 goal scorers list (17 goals in 34 games).
