USMNT: CONCACAF U-20s Recap and Takeaways vs. Haiti
By Sean Curtis
The U-20 USMNT got back on track with a 4-1 win over Haiti yesterday. Here is a recap of the action and three key takeaways.
After a loss to Panama in their opening match, the U-20 USMNT needed to bounce back against Haiti to keep their World Cup dreams alive. Tab Ramos changed his lineup up a bit for this game by bringing Jonathan Lewis and Eryk Williamson into the starting midfield.
The game started pretty much as expected. Haiti bunkered and tried to catch the USA on the counterattack, while the USA pressed higher and higher up the field. For most of the first 15 min, all 10 field players for the USA were in the Haiti half, and then they got caught.
Haiti managed to get so numbers on a break and Kenley Dede was able to volley home a cross to give Haiti and early lead. For the next 15 min, the USA kept pressing until Jonathan Lewis was taken down in the box. Brooks Lennon was able to slot home the penalty and tie up the game in the 28th minute.
