Powered by the collective of Manchester City and the New York Yankees, NYCFC have been expected to win from day one. As with most expansion teams, the club missed the playoffs in year one and struggled to keep the opponent from scoring. However, Patrick Vieira’s entrance in year two saw the team jump into 2nd place in the Eastern Conference.
15 wins in 2016 was a great step forward and pushed the club well above the 33% mark. However, a crushing two-leg defeat to their city rivals the New York Red Bulls left a bad note on the end of a great year. Still 1-5 against their main rivals, but trending in the right direction and with the resources to maintain playoff status for years to come.
