The 2010 expansion team has had up and down fortunes throughout their seven seasons, although their ranking clearly indicates to more disappoint years. The Union failed to qualify for the playoffs for five of those years, and are still without a single playoff victory to date.

The club has found much more success in the US Open Cup, making it to the championship in 2014 and 2015, but losing both. Their low point came in 2015 when they finished 18th out of 20 clubs. However, with Andrew Blake in the nets and a young star defender in Keegan Rosenberry, Philadelphia feel they are in store for a breakout year similar to Toronto.
