Of the ten original MLS clubs, the Revolution have definitely had the worst luck when it comes to closing out seasons. Appearing in the 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2014 MLS Cups, New England came up on the losing end each time. Add on top of that, a runner up campaign in the 2005 Supporters’ Shield and the 2001 & 2016 US Open Cups leaves the club with more ‘What Ifs?’ than anyone would wish for.
They did bring home the 2007 US Open Cup, and have been consistent throughout their MLS run, with only a few seasons under ten wins. The early 2000’s era helped carry this franchise to their spot in the rankings, but in 13th it goes to show how fairly successful doesn’t add up over time.
