As we hit the top of the list, the best match-up of 2017 goes against the Red Bulls. When you have a cross-town rival, there really isn’t anyone else that is going to offer up a bigger match-up when looking at the schedule before the season starts.

This MLS rivalry has intensified over the past two years, even before NYCFC entered the league. These metro teams, well with the exception of the Red Bulls, honestly don’t like each other.

With last year’s massive brawl between both club supporters outside Yankee Stadium, it’s all about bragging rights. Unfortunately, the Red Bulls currently lead the rivalry series over NYCFC with five wins, and last season’s 7-0 beatdown is a tough one to let go.

Every time these two face each other, it’s the match-up to watch all over the league. Why does this specific one matter the most? Because NYCFC will be the away squad and maybe this time around, it’ll be their turn to return the 7-0 favor.
