I think this one should come as no surprise, but a unanimous selection from the committee of voters. Villa just nearly missed the Golden Boot with 23 goals, and the Spanish legend helped carry his team through an up and down season. The expansion team’s first player, Villa’s ruthless skill on the ball routinely bewildered both defenders and keepers, and deservedly won MVP this season.
