#10 Jelle Van Damme
Jelle Van Damme signed with the LA Galaxy on the 26th of January with the hopes to replace Galaxy legend Omar Gonzalaes, which he did and much more. The 33-year-old played in 28 of the Galaxy’s regular season matches and was a strong contender for MLS Defender of the Year. He averaged 2.2 tackles a game and 3.5 interceptions a game. Not only did the Belgian centerback dominate the stat sheet, but Van Damme was a dominant force on the field as well in ways that statistics can’t show. He also showed up in the attack in ways one doesn’t expect a centerback to. Even though he didn’t score any goals, he picked up 4 assists.
