The Portland Timbers finished 7th in the Western Conference, failing to qualify for the playoffs in the season after winning the MLS Cup. They committed a total of 438 fouls to put them at 7th overall for most fouls committed this regular season. MLS disciplinary points saw them finish 7th overall. Even though they had the 7 most fouls, the Timbers only had 3 red cards during the season, followed up by 52 MLS yellow cards.

One of these red cards was given to Diego Chara for shoving Benny Feilhaber in the face. This was in a very chippy game which saw Sporting’s Soni Mustivar also get a straight red for a hard tackle on Diego Valeri.
