Sporting KC battled against the LA Galaxy in an exciting match that saw both teams come away with a point after a 2-2 draw.

The LA Galaxy will be pleased after earning a point against Sporting KC in a match that Kansas City should’ve won. Sporting will be disappointed after not getting all three point as they were clearly the better of the two sides in this one. For Los Angeles, a great goal from Landon Donovan brought things level in the second half.

Entering the match, the Galaxy were 7W-1D-0L when leading at the half this season but after a great comeback from Sporting, that unbeaten record seemed in jeopardy. Thanks to some heroics from Landon Donovan, LA came away with a draw and a point. They have still not lost when leading at the break this season.

Sporting KC are now five points clear of Seattle for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Kansas City have a 11W-12L-7D record with 40 total points this season. The Galaxy moved into second place in the West and are now 11W-4L-15D this year.

Kansas City found their second goal to go ahead 2-1 in the 69′ minute. A quick free kick got Saad Abdul-Salaam open and his cross found Dom Dwyer who scored his 14th goal of the season. Sporting led the charge for most of the second half.

3. A Goal For the GOAT!

In only his second game after coming out of retirement, Landon Donovan scored his first goal of the season in the 76′ minute. He came on as a sub in the 74′ minute and only a few moments later, he was able to find the back of the net. Robbie Rogers provided the assist for Donovan’s first goal since late fall of 2014 against New York Red Bulls.
