The Miami Fusion enjoyed a brief stint in the MLS that lasted a short four seasons. Their demise came after the 2001 season, as the league decided to withdraw the club from the league due to financial issues. The 2001 season proved to be their best year with a Supporters Shield trophy being clinched at the end of the season. They finished with an impressive record of 16-5-5 that year.

In their short time as a club the Fusion had some very successful players come through the club. Diego Serna scored an impressive 52 goals in 100 appearances and Alex Pineda Chacon was the league MVP and leading goal scorer in 2001.

Carlos Valderrama will most likely be remembered for his hair, but he also was a fantastic player for the Fusion. He recorded 12 assists in the 1998 season. Current Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando got his career started with the club in the 2000 and 2001 season, which included seven clean sheet performances.
