The New York Red Bulls originally started playing under the names the New York/New Jersey MetroStars and just the MetroStars. In 2006 the name switched to the Red Bulls when the energy drink company purchased the club.

Despite not winning any MLS Cup Championships yet, the club has only failed to make the postseason four times. More recently they have found success in the 2013 and 2015 seasons, winning the Supporters Shield, and finishing with a combined record of 35-19-14 in those two campaigns.

All-Time Leading Scorers: Bradley Wright-Phillips (2013-Current) 66 Goals, Juan Pablo Angel (2007-2010) 62 Goals.

Most Appearances Made: Mike Petke (1998-2002;2009-2010)

In 2010 the Red Bulls signed the clubs most famous player as Arsenal great Thierry Henry joined the club. The Frenchman scored 52 goals in five seasons played. That same year they signed Mexican international Rafael Marquez, who spent three years in New York.

Recently Bradley Wright-Phillips has set the all-time goals record for the club, as he continues to find the back of the net. In 2014 he scored a whopping 27 goals. Juan Pablo Angel was another notable goal scorer to come through the club. The former Aston Villa man scored 62 goals in four seasons.
