It has been a franchise of runner-up finishes for the New England Revolution. The club has finished runner-up in the MLS Cup five times in 20 years. A U.S. Open Cup win in 2007 was the first time the club won a major trophy with a victory over F.C. Dallas. Their best regular season tally was in 2005 when they finished with a record of 17-7-8.

The New England Revolution are one the oldest clubs in the league and as a result the fans have seen plenty of talent over the years. One of those talented players was Taylor Twellman. The Minnesota native scored 101 goals for the club in the nine seasons he played for them. He was a five-time MLS all-star and won the league’s MVP award in 2005.
There have been quite a few players that have spent a majority of their career in the Revolution uniform. Shalrie Joesph, Matt Reis, Jay Heaps, and Steve Ralston are some of those players that left an impact on the club with long careers. Ralston played a vital role in the clubs success in the 2002-2007 seasons.
A young Clint Dempsey called Gillette Stadium home for three seasons as the star player was drafted by the club in 2004. During his time with the Revolution, he scored 25 goals and won Rookie of the Year honors in his first year in the squad.
