The San Jose Earthquakes were able to defeat Toronto FC on July 16th as the California Club won 2-1 at home.

The San Jose Earthquakes took on Toronto FC Saturday night and won the match by a score of 2-1. The result snapped a 7 game winless streak for San Jose. Below are match ratings for each player from Saturday’s match. *Match Ratings are a 1-10 scale with 1 being the worst and 10 being the best*

David Bingham: 7– Bingham was tested a few times in the first half as he allowed one goal and made a late save in the half to keep the game tied at 1. Bingham did well in the second half to keep Toronto from getting back onto the score sheet as he finished the match with 4 saves.

Cordell Cato7– Cato did well playing on the right side of the defense in the first half as he had two tackles, one blocked shot, 1 interception, and one key pass. Cato started off the second half well with a goal line clearance in the 57th minute of the match. Cato did well and assisted on a Simon Dawkins goal as Cato did well to get to the middle of the field and give Dawkins a solid through ball to help Dawkins get on the score sheet.

Victor Bernardez: 9– Bernardez did well in keeping star Toronto FC striker Giovinco in check for the first half but did let a cross get through into the middle later in the half as it resulted in a Toronto FC goal. Bernardez did extremely well in the second half to hold up the Toronto FC attack with the Earthquakes playing with nine men. Bernardez finished the match with 5 clearances, 3 blocked shots, 2 interceptions, and 4 tackles.

Jordan Stewart: 6– Aside from a clearance and a couple of interceptions Jordan Stewart had a relatively quiet match playing center defense in the  Earthquakes match Saturday night.

Shaun Francis:6– Shaun Francis had an average match for the Earthquakes as he was not required to do much on the left side of the Earthquakes defense.

Alberto Quintero: 4– Alberto Quintero was quiet for much of the first half and didn’t do himself any favors in the second as he lost the ball a few times and received a red card in the 53rd minute.

More from Post Match

Anibal Godoy: 4– Godoy received a red card in the 42nd minute of the match and wasn’t much of a factor for the squad before receiving the red card.

Fatai Alashe: 7– Alashe was arguably San Jose’s top player in the first half as he did well in controlling the midfield for the Earthquakes and even ran down the flanks as he sent in a cross down the side which resulted in a Quincy Amarikwa goal. Alashe did well in the second half to help control the midfield as best he could after two Earthquakes midfielders were sent off in the match.

Simon Dawkins: 8– Dawkins was quiet in the first half but was much better in the second as he was required to do more in result of the Earthquakes playing with 9 men for the majority of the second half. Dawkins scored in the 70th minute from a stellar run which resulted in a shot outside the box and an Earthquakes lead. Dawkins was subbed out in the 89th minute of the match.

Chris Wondolowski: 5– Wondolowski was disappointing in the first half as he did little with the ball and wasn’t much of a factor for the Earthquakes attack. In the second half it was the same story as Wondolowski didn’t do much for the Earthquakes attack. Wondolowski was subbed off in the 86th minute of the match.

Quincy Amarikwa: 7– Quincy Amarikwa opened up the game with a goal in the 30th minute and was denied of a goal earlier in the match by the Toronto FC keeper. Amarikwa did well putting pressure on the Toronto defense for much of the first half. Amarikwa was subbed out in the 57th minute of the match due to the fact that the Earthquakes were playing with 9 men. A bit unlucky for the striker as he was playing well early on.

Substitutes:

Shea Salinas: 6– Salinas was subbed on in the 57th minute to help the Earthquakes midfield as they were playing with 9 men in the second half. Salinas was pretty quiet during the time he was in but did have a crucial clearance late in the game.

Adam Jahn: N/A- Adam Jahn was subbed into the 86th minute of the match and wasn’t able to make an impact with the little amount of time left in the match.

Chad Randall Barrett: N/A- Barrett was subbed into the 89th minute of the match.
