With the Columbus Crew at a low point in their season they must take advantage of a run of 3 matches in a row at home to force their way back to contention.

The Columbus Crew are not playing well right now.  Everyone  One might even say they’re playing poorly or even bad. You know it is bad when your team’s owner calls it a “low point of the season“.  In all of this mess that has been the Crew’s season thus far, Columbus has a real opportunity to rewrite the script of their 2016 campaign over the next week and a half.

This evening the Crew take on Toronto FC at home followed by DC United this weekend and Orlando City the following week.  All of these matches are in ‘the bus’ itself, right at home, where the Crew have been very efficient over the past 16 months (yes, I’m talking about the same team that has only won 3 matches this season).

Not only are these matches at home, but they are against opposition that is very beatable and within striking distance on the table.

"“It is a really important week for this group and for this team. It is getting to a point in the season where we need to start turning things around and start adding points to our total. With two home games, this week is a great opportunity. It’s not going to be easy but it’s against two Eastern Conference opponents that we’re more than capable of beating and fully expect to get six points out of these next two.”-Ethan FinlaySource: ColumbusCrew.com"

At this point last year, the Crew were only 5 points better than they are now and also had failed to find a win on the road yet too.  Though the Crew side of last year and this year are equally as woeful on the road the difference has been that the 2016 Crew have not yet found the success at Mapfre stadium that last years side did.

In 2015 the Crew won roughly half of the matches in Columbus and only lost 4, amassing a very large portion of their points tally on the year at home in Columbus.  As a sidenote, about three-quarters of the points the Crew won on the road came in the second half of the year as well.

The fans in Columbus will need to be out in full force for the upcoming homestand.

What all of this is to say is that Crew fans should not quite be in panic mode yet.

Understandably, there has been a lot of public questions surrounding the performances of Crew SC thus far, but as Justin Meram puts it “the negativity is not helping”.   The team hasn’t yet shown much to be positive about, but there is still time and that’s the important thing to remember.   So right now there is only one thing to do if you’re a Crew fan.

Head out to the stadium this week and give it all you got.  This is as good a chance the Crew will get to turn around the season and they need us to get behind them.  See you there, stay Massive.
