Laurent Ciman

Position: Defender

Club: Montreal Impact

Previous All-Star game appearances: 2015

Montreal Impact’s Laurent Ciman is the second centre-back in the team’s defensive trio. The 30-year-old was the defensive fulcrum of the Canadian club’s 2015 MLS season, which saw them reach the MLS Conference Semifinals and finish runners-up in the Canadian Championship and the CONCACAF Champions League respectively.

Several individual accolades including 2015 MLS Defender of the Year, but this was just the beginning for the Belgian. He continued his strong form into the 2016 campaign and was rewarded with a place in his country’s Euro squad, where he started in a 2-0 loss to Italy before becoming the last MLS player to bow out of the competition following their eventual 3-1 loss to Wales in the quarterfinals.

A calm and experienced customer with an eye for a pass, Ciman’s second consecutive involvement with the MLS-All Stars XI is a vindication of his consistent form for Montreal Impact over the past couple of seasons.
