2016 MLS All-Star Game: MLS All-Star Fan XI Overview
By Rohit Menon
Sebastian Giovinco
Position: Forward
Club: Toronto FC
Previous All-Star game appearances: none
Sebastian Giovinco has been a star ever since he stepped on North American shores as Toronto FC’s Designated Player; the MLS Golden Boot, MLS Newcomer of the Year and MLS MVP awards are some of the accolades he received in his first season in the MLS.
The diminutive Italian, standing at just 5’4”, had a ridiculous season for the Canadian club in 2015. He scored 22 goals and bagged 16 assists in 33 games played, which is a league record for most goals and assists combined in a single season.
Despite his form not being at it’s peak this time around, the Turin native is still a very hard prospect to face. His explosive pace and movement, fantastic dribbling, eye for a pass and ruthlessness in front of goal are attributes that would help any team nick a win even if they’re not playing very well.
MLS fans will be hoping that Giovinco finds his scoring touch soon, so that they can witness a goal-fest in the MLS All-Star game at the Avaya Stadium in San Jose.
