Steven Gerrard Has Brought the LA Galaxy’s Offense Back to Life
The LA Galaxy were in the midst of a scoring slump until legendary midfielder, Steven Gerrard, turned things around by produced three assists in two games.
Before their last match against the Vancouver Whitecaps, the LA Galaxy were on a seven game winless streak where they had five draws and two losses. The run of bad outings seemed like it would never end, until England international, Steven Gerrard, came through to spark the team’s offense.
Gerrard has recently been moved to more of an attacking midfielder’s role under head coach, Bruce Arena, over the past few matches. This change has jump started the team’s offense and has led LA to their first win in over a month. His attacking role has allowed him to use his talents and skills to create for his teammates.

Before his move to CAM for the Galaxy, he had missed two of their previous games against Sporting KC and Tornonto FC before making his return off of the bench against the Colorado Rapids. He has returned as a new type of player after he came back from that minor injury.
The 36-year old midfielder has recorded three assists in the previous two matches. He produced a wonderful assist to Giovani dos Santos who headed home a goal in the teams’ 1-1 draw against the San Jose Earthquakes in the California Clasico.
He then continued his outstanding form with two assists in the Galaxy’s 2-0 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps. Gerrard found Robbie Keane for an early goal in the first half after a world class finish from the Irish international. Then he found Jeff Larentowicz on a corner kick early in the second half to secure the win.
Many thought that Gerrard’s best days were past him when he moved to Los Angeles to play in the MLS but he is still showing that he has the talent to play as one of the top players in the league. His new role with the club has him producing and the team firing on all cylinders as of late.
They will be looking to continue their great play as they take on the Seattle Sounders in their next game. The adjustment by Bruce Arena could be the move that changes the fortune for the LA Galaxy this season as they are moving up the Western Conference table with hopes of winning an MLS title this year.
Gerrard has been a great designated player signing for the team as he is their leader in assists with seven this season in only 12 games. He has also recorded two goals this year. He is currently third in the MLS in assists. The legend will look to continue his impressive form for the rest of the season.
