Columbus Loses Heart-breaker in K.C.
By Daniel Garza
The Columbus Crew came up short in Sunday’s nights match in Kansas City, losing in the stoppage time.
A frustrating match for the Crew ended in a 3-2 loss to Sporting Kansas City. After taking a lead in the first half they failed to capitalize on the opportunity to take three points on the road.

Ola Kamara continued his impressive run of run of form by scoring the opening goal for the Crew. Harrison Afful provided the cross that led to the goal.
For the rest of the first half it was back and forth, with the best scoring chance coming from Graham Zusi on a free kick that hit the crossbar. The Crew headed into the locker rooms at the half with a 1-0 lead.
At the start of the second half was where Columbus started to fall apart. Tyson Wahl was sent off just minutes into the half after he brought down Dom Dwyer in the box. Benny Feilhaber converted the ensuing penalty, and just like that the match was tied at 1-1.
Less than 10 minutes later Zusi scored the go-ahead to put the home side in front. It seemed all but over for the crew.
The Crew continued to press forward despite being a man down, and found the equalizer in the 75th minute. Kamara was the goal scorer as he picked up his seventh goal of the season and his second of the match. Tony Tchani got the assist with a beautiful through ball to the Norwegian.
It appeared that the Crew would at least grab a point from the match, but in the 91st minute Matt Besler headed home the winner. The U.S. international scored a rare goal for his club in what was his first match back from international duty.
For the Crew this match continues their unimpressive season, as they find themselves with one of the worst records in the league. Up next they face the New England Revolution on Saturday. Kick off is set for 7:30 (EST).
Kansas City climbed up into fourth place in the Western Conference with tonight’s result. They host NYCFC next Sunday at 8:00 (EST).
