When is it right a time to put out predictions? The MLS Multiplex staff thinks now is the perfect time. It is only January but it is the best time to predict what will happen in the 21st season of Major League Soccer. These are five bold predictions for the 2016 season.

5. Owen Coyle is fired before the end of the season

The Houston Dynamo struggled last season finishing 8th in the Western Conference. There was a lot of promise for Coyle when he became the head coach last year. Plus he just traded a club legend, Brad Davis. Many fans may not take that news well especially if they do not win games. He has made some smart acquisitions this offseason, but that will not be enough.

4. Gonzalo Veron gets All- Star spot

One player who will surprise the league this season is Gonzalo Veron. The winger for the New York Red Bulls was signed as a DP late on in the year. Give him a full year and he will surprise many people in the league. Veron is a skilled player who has had a great young career. Look for him to play in the MLS All-Star Game at Avaya Stadium.

3. Jordan Morris Wins Rookie of the Year

Morris just signed with his hometown club, the Seattle Sounders. Morris won the Hermann Trophy this past season and has a lot of promise. He has already suited up for the United States Men’s National Team and he is only 22. He will win the MLS Rookie of the Year Award and score more goals than Cyle Larin.

2. The Golden Boot goes to……. Kei Kamara

Kei Kamara had a tremendous 2015 scoring over twenty goals in the regular season. With players like Higuain, Finlay, and Trapp returning to the club he should have no problem of getting the ball. Kamara has been a tremendous goal scorer throughout his career. Kamara will win the Golden Boot in 2016 but the Crew will not make it past the first round of the playoffs.

1. Orlando City will make the playoffs for the 1st time

Orlando just missed out of the playoffs last season in their first season ever in Major League Soccer. After showing that they can play, look for City to be in the playoffs in 2016. The selections of Laryea and Berry in the SuperDraft will prove to be vital. They will bring energy and depth to a bench that struggled last season. Orlando had many injuries last season. This will not happen this year and they will qualify for the MLS Cup Playoffs.
