Every season, a couple rookies surprise the fans and have a breakout year. Last year Cyle Larin won the 2015 Rookie of the Year Award. He scored 17 goals and broke the rookie goal scoring record. Larin was one of the rookies to watch last season, but who do we keep our eyes on this year? The 2016 MLS SuperDraft provided the league with some great young rookies. These are the top 5 rookies to keep an eye on in 2016.

5. Cole Seiler

Seiler was selected No.16 overall by the Vancouver Whitecaps in the SuperDraft. While at Georgetown, he was paired up with Joshua Yaro at center back. Seiler is a different kind of center back. In his highlight tapes, he hits a lot of diagonal balls to wingers. The Whitecaps have some great outside midfielders and Seiler can be the guy to get them the ball. Seiler will most likely start on Vancouver’s USL team but watch him make his way up to the starting XI before the all-star break.
4. Hadji Berry

This could be the biggest steal of the 2016 MLS SuperDraft. Orlando selected Berry with the 13th overall pick after trading up for it. Orlando City did not have any speed last season which killed them on the flanks. Berry was the fastest player available in the draft. Some coaches believed he did not have the skills to be in Major League Soccer but they may be wrong. Berry will prove to be a vital asset for Adrian Heath in 2016.

3. Kyle Fisher

Fisher was a great leader and center back at Clemson University. Many people believe he is too small to play center back in Major League Soccer. Will he be paired up with Laurent Ciman in his first season? No, because they are two totally different players. Fisher will still be a player to watch out for in 2016. Look for him to play a little outside back if needed.

2. Keegan Rosenberry

When the Union selected Yaro at the No.2 overall pick it was almost definite they were going to pick Rosenberry. Rosenberry will be an interesting player to watch out for in 2016. He will most likely start at right back for the Union. We will see if the Union made the right choice of picking Rosenberry over Brandon Vincent.

1. Jack Harrison

Harrison was selected No.1 overall by the Chicago Fire in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft. Ten minutes later, he was traded to New York City FC. NYCFC was heavily targeting Harrison before the SuperDraft. Harrison was the best midfielder available in the draft after a fantastic college career. He will be an immediate starter at NYCFC.
